Playdates - do I give up or keep trying?
I am really having a hard time setting up play dates for my kindergartener. We live in a neighborhood with lots of kids who are also in kindergarten at his school, so you’d think it would be so easy. We also do rec sports through our town where we’ve met lots of families from the school. My husband and I have connected with many parents through volunteering at school and the sports teams, and our kids get along great, but it seems impossible to hang out outside of those two areas. Every time I reach out asking if they want to meet at a park or even just play outside or go for a bike ride around the neighborhood, they are busy. Since the kids are off school today, I asked our two neighbors (who also have K kids) a few days ago if they wanted to come over for a play date and neither could. I understand people are busy and have their own lives, but I feel like I’m the only one trying and I just don’t want to be annoying. It’s frustrating reading here that people are easily doing play dates 2-3 times a week when I can’t even set up ONE.
