11 y/o Chihuahua with kidney disease…am I making the right choice for him?

3 weeks ago I took my dog in because he was being very picky about food, which was highly unusual for him. He would also have occasional episodes of urinating in random places, like the bed or the middle of a hallway. He has a hx of blindness due to SARDS since 2021.

They did Xrays and labs, and the one standoit was a BUN level >130. They recommended a renal diet, subcut fluids 2x/week and Epatikin supplement. I did all of the above, but he continued refusing most food or only eating small amounts of select things (apples, carrots, ground turkey, sometimes salmon).

This past weekend he started refusing most things. Yesterday he ate nothing. He is curled up in his bed most of the time unless I physically move him to potty outside. Last night I went to pick him up and he was covered in poop. He had just pooped where he was then sat on it.

It had already crossed my mind but that solidified I should perhaps think about the end.

Today I went to the vet again and she gently suggested that. I chose to schedule it for the next day but I am also so torn. I love him and don’t want him to suffer. But I don’t know if it’s worth trying something else.

Am I making the right choice? He is 11, has been blind since age 6 (SARDS) and and I just can’t imagine him putting him through life when he can’t enjoy his favorite thing, which was food.
