Social security isn’t going anywhere and will almost certainly not even get cut
I’m close to retiring and it’s amazing how many people are certain that social security is about to go away completely.
This is nonsense.
First off, worst case, ss benefits will be reduced in 2033 to about 80% of what they are right now. That’s if absolutely nothing is done to fix the minor problem with the system. And even then, as the baby boomer bubble babies die the system will regain some of those cuts.
But the bigger reason it isn’t going anywhere is that the entire eldercare industry relies on ss to function. You really think any politician is going to let that happen when all they have to do to completely fix the system is raise the cap so well off people pay a few thousand more each year?
Social security is secure. Bank on it.
