I can connect the death of John lennon's mom to the creation of UNDERTALE and eventually the indie rpg industry.

OK so, basically it kinda goes like this

in 1958 john lennon's mother julia died in a car crash

john lennon didn't have a close relationship with her since she was mostly absent during his life, tough she ocasionally visited him

her death really affected john and that contributed to his own mental struggles

in 1970 john released MOTHER a song about his MOTHER and how she, her absence and her death affected his life

in the 1980s, beatles fan and tv personality shigesato itoi listens to the song and he cries a lot and feels tons of emotion

that gives him an idea "what if i made a game that is as emotional as this song"

the idea for the game MOTHER is born

MOTHER 1 comes out in japan and becomes a great success in the country

this leads to a sequel MOTHER 2 that gets translated to english and changes it's name to EARTHBOUND

cut back to america and a young toby fox plays the game and becomes a fan of the MOTHER series

the game largely influences toby fox creatively

toby fox makes hacks for MOTHER 2, the most well known being the earthbound halloween hack

in 2011 toby fox (then college student) had a fever dream that laid the foundations for his game DELTARUNE

but toby didn't have the programming knowledge to make deltarune so instead he makes a simpler game that presents deltarune's ideas but stripped down

that game is UNDERTALE

undertale becomes a SMASHING hit and even gets given as a gift to the pope

toby now full of knowledge resources and contacts manages to begin making deltarune

he releases the first chapter in 2018

deltarune is also a SMASHING hit and just like undertale influences tons of games and developers out there mainly MOST OF THE RPG INDUSTRY SPECIALLY THE INDIE ONE.
