Heterosexual here, Need help, please remove if not allowed
Hi, Apologies in advance if my terminology is off, but I don't know who else to turn to. I feel like an asshole and an idiot.
I (32M, Hetero/Demi-sexual) met this wonderful amazing person (28F, Asexual) a couple months ago.
Long story short, we talked for a bit until we met.
I've never met someone who was so talented and beautiful both in soul, character and in beauty.
The thing is as we hung out one of the things we talked about was sex and sexual intimacy. It was the first time that we found about each others orientations. Her reaction was that she didnt understand and found intimacy to be uncomfortable and icky while I was the opposite.
Honestly, we didn't mind, but we both agree to call things off as we both felt that our orientations could turn into resentment if our relationship progressed long term.
Looking back, it felt like I just gave up, why didn't I fight harder.
Can I please ask you all, was I an asshole, did I give up too easily? Given my need for sexual intimacy, did we make the right choice in separating or was I just too ignorant. I'm not sure but I feel like I dropped the ball. I feel like I failed not just the relationship but as a human being.
Apologies and thank you in advance.
