Is this unreasonable… sick child
My partner and I have a 4 year old and a 4 month old. I’m doing all the parenting this week as it’s half term, and today that meant driving 40 minutes away to a family gathering with the kids.
My partner likes to go and tinker with things in his garage once or twice a week in an evening (it’s not an attached garage, about a 10 minute drive), most times after he’s out the 4 year old to bed (I EBF so mostly handle all parenting of 4 month old), but sometimes I’ll put them both down. I said this eve as we were out anyway that I’ll just put them both to bed so he can go to the garage.
Fast forward and my 4 year old gets horrendously car sick on the way home, and I mean EVERYWHERE. He’s not unwell but obviously a lot of mess to deal with. I ring partner once I’ve cleaned him up and he is VERY begrudging about leaving the garage early so I just say to leave it and I hang up.
Obviously I’m annoyed lol. I had to do an extra bathtime (I’d done a morning bath with kids as I knew we’d be late back), and juggle bedtimes and now sort out the car/clothes/general mess all by myself. And this is only day one of half term.
Am I being unreasonable by being annoyed? I just feel like if the shoe was on the other foot I’d be home in a heartbeat to help/comfort/just be on hand.
