Thoughts on putting a custom hardcover on a softcover compendium.

I have a few of the recent DC Compendium softcovers. Lots of content with a great price point. My only concern is the durability of the softcover. My GL Rebirth was delivered with a small dog ear crease in the corner and it got me thinking.

Has anyone discussed taking these to a custom bindery to put on a hardcover? Is it even possible given the style of binding? I'm curious how much it would cost to slap a hardcover around it, then either have them copy the existing cover or add your own custom slipcover.

Thoughts?
