Grief
Grief is weird. One minute you’re functioning, going through the day like normal… and then something tiny hits you — a song, a smell, a random memory — and suddenly you remember they’re really gone.
Not “busy.” Not “I’ll call them later.” Gone.
And nobody warns you about the random waves. How years can pass and it still sneaks up on you out of nowhere. How you can be laughing one second and quietly breaking down the next because you wish you could tell them something that happened today.
The hardest part isn’t even the day they died anymore. It’s all the normal days after. The birthdays, the holidays, the random Tuesday afternoons when you just miss them so much it physically hurts.
If you’ve lost someone too… I hope you’re doing okay today. Seriously.
