Much of your game success is not in your control

Total War: Warhammer

It is human nature to think we are in more control of our situation than we are.

This goes for WH as well.

Part of the success of my first campaign is how well I played diplomacy but the situation on the map was Empire rank 2 and Nuln rank 2 who are my best buds as Kislev.

Drycha the malevolent tree faction fought alongside me against Chaos almost the whole game even without diplomacy since they wouldn't even trade. They took out Azazel finally for me and helped me take down ARcheon despite plague and crimson fever around us.

Kislev's other factions and Malakai were toast early. I never even saw the other kislev factions on the map.

Cathay North and West are very strong.

Now after taking out the entire Chaos wastes with Empire and Drycha I am taking down

gorfang and grimgor as they declared Waargh against me.

The dark elves wiped out the high elves and now there is a huge dark elf slaaneshi cult faction but Empire, Bretonnia, wood elves, and Nuln are taking care of business while I am giving targets to EMpire to make that more systematic. So not worried about that border.

But I have one dwarf faction, multiple wood elf factions, the Ogre main faction, the two Cathay factions all taking down the orcs and clan mouder Skaven who are a big faction.

It is hard to tell how well I did in my first campaign because I have been very lucky with allies fighting with me and some key order factions still strong.

How much of your campaign performance is good luck with allies and how Chaos or ORder AI factions are doing? Hard to tell.
