Advice?

question

I did not have any pain or issues with one of my molars, but my dentist recommended placing a crown due to significant prior fillings from cavities I had in adolescence.

The first procedure was completed on 1/19. After the temporary crown was placed, I experienced sensitivity to heat, cold, and pressure. The permanent crown was installed on 2/6, but aching began shortly afterward and the temperature sensitivity continued. I returned on 2/13 for additional crown adjustments; however, the pain, aching, and sensitivity have persisted. I am now very uncomfortable.

Is this level of ongoing pain normal? Is it possible the crown could be defective or improperly fitted? I was told that the tooth and root appeared normal on the most recent X-ray, but the next step being discussed is a root canal.

I am feeling extremely frustrated because my tooth felt completely fine before this process, and now I am experiencing constant pain.
