Good evening all. Trying to figure out why I cannot get midi comms to flow from an Akai MPC X (in standalone mode) through a CME "U2MIDI PRO" branded cable having a 5 pin in, a 5 pin out and the other end being USB A plugging to a win11 computer. I have read this link to microsoft below which discusses the number of midi port entries and what they should be. Look at this snip of the registry key. Potentially lots of junk in here.

Using MIDIOX tells me no message is being transferred from MPC to U2MIDI cable to windows 11 but the cable lights up when i touch any control on the MPCX. The software for the cable is not helpful.

Is this page by Pete Brown at microsoft indicating that I should not have more than ports midi thru midi9, and midi0 should not be listed? Or, is it telling me that these 10 ports should be first 10 ports *to be* listed? Looking at the snip, I count 43 ports and none of them except for midi and midi1 in the list and certainly not some of the first. There are so many it goes against the spirit of the article so maybe there is something to it?

I suspect i have broken something and its not the cable. However, I have a different cable on order of the ROLAND brand to see if...anything happens.

Thanks for reading! Sorry for being so long winded.
