Trade in with broken screen/IMEI??

I am trying to help my young adult kid (T) get a new phone, as the screen on their old phone (Galaxy S22) broke & that is how they access the city transportation (and the world!)

I know they need the IMEI # for the $800 trade in deal -but does the sales rep need to be able to see it on the phone? T is able to access & control their phone from their laptop, so would that be a legit way for them to verify the IMEI?

Or do we spend the $120 on Swappa to get the deal?

Oooor an I missing another option?
