AITAH for exploding on my parents after being yelled at for making my sister cry?

I (16F) have a younger sister (14F). She’s generally a pretty sensitive girl and takes advantage of getting me in trouble whenever she can. My parents obviously can’t resist her, so I usually just bite my tongue while cursing her out in my head.

My father isn’t necessarily a violent man. He’s definitely more dramatic than he needs to be, but he doesn’t hit me ( not anymore. That was normal when I was younger) I just wanted to preface that. And my mom unfortunately follows whatever he says.

I entered my sister’s room without knocking after I came home from school to say hi. She was on her computer finishing up homework. On her desk, I saw a hair clip she hadn’t worn in years. I took it and put it in my hair, which obviously angered her. She got up and tried to grab it from me while I dodged her hands. I wasn’t giving it back, and in hindsight, I can see that I should’ve just asked her first.

Anyway, my dad came in to separate us and sent me to my room while comforting my sister, since she was crying over it... obviously :/ When my dad walked off, I went back into her room to ask her what that was about, and she let out a scream. I sighed, already knowing what was coming next.

My dad stormed in and then came into my room. He grabbed papers off my desk and slammed them on the floor along with some bottles of perfume. He was screaming at the top of his lungs while my mom followed, asking what happened. He started saying I was bullying my sister. I responded that it definitely wasn’t bullying especially since I’ve been a victim of it myself. He got offended that I even dared to respond, which just made him angrier.

I sat down in my chair while he complained about me to my mom in my own room. I opened my backpack to grab my French homework, and he started telling me that studying was pointless that I don’t even care about my grades and shouldn’t even bother. He grabs my homework from my hand and sends it flying to the other side of the room, because i wasn't answering him. What he didn't know is that I was holding myself back to not start cussing him out. He says I’ll never make it anywhere in life. That the best I’ll ever be is a Tim Hortons worker, and so be it. Apparently he doesn’t care, and I better not crawl back to him when I’m homeless on the street.

That’s when I snapped. I try so hard with my grades. Whenever I get anything under an 85, I cry and worry myself with it until the next grade. All I do is try to keep him happy, and it never feels like enough.

I started screaming back at him, telling him that what I did didn’t warrant his reaction.

My mom stepped in, saying that I’ve changed so much the reason, obviously, being that I don’t read my Bible enough.

I live in a very traditional Christian household. Even daring to say something that opposes it would probably end with me being sent to a priest to “cast out” whatever demons they think I have in me. Whenever I refuse to do something, my parents blame it on me not praying enough or falling out of my relationship with Christ.

What they don’t know is that I couldnt give a lesser fuck about being a “good Christian” or reading my Bible. I just can’t make myself believe in it. If God is real, how can so many tragedies happen? Sure, maybe God helped you find your car keys but what about the young girl who gets blown up just because she was born in a country at war?

Anyway, I digress.

He kept going, saying I’m secretive and never tell them anything. Honestly, I regret telling my parents things for a lot of reasons, but that’s another story.

He took my bus card and my phone, and now I’m locked in my room. It’s been hours. I don’t know if I should apologize or not. I don’t know what to do.

AITAH?
