AITAH for not getting my boyfriend a gift on Valentine’s Day

We never celebrate big commercial holidays like this, we didn’t even get each other anything for Christmas. A few day before valentines, I suggested that we should hang out together and he agreed, I never specified for anything special. That day he took me out to eat and then asked me for his gift and I was completely shocked because this is not something we set up in our relationship of giving each other for holidays! I told him i didn’t get him anything and he said I didn’t care about him because I didn’t get him a gift! I am just not sure how to feel because all of this was on whim, us having out on that day because if I didn’t remind him, he would’ve forgot. And instead of talking it out that day like adults, he brought it up 2 days after Valentine’s Day about of the blue and was upset that I wasn’t considerate enough to get him a gift. I feel this is a very bad way to communicate with your significant other.
