Beam Overload + Entwined Tactical Matrices

I have a Beam Overload build and I was wondering if I can use the trait off the MW Gagarin to have Fire at Will active in the time BO is recharging. Basically I'd activate BO, wait until it finishes and then activate Torpedo Spread to trigger FAW. Will this reset my BO timer or work as intended?
