I wish I knew what it’s like to hear from both ears

I don’t see it as a disability or let it prevent me from my life but I wish I had two fully functioning ears. It is better than none but it will always be a thing. When I was born I had pneumonia and the meds were too strong and there for lost hearing in my right ear. As I got older I was told that my hearing would comeback but I’m now 24 and still partially deaf. I always hear friends and surroundings speak so high of being able to do so and I can’t help but dream. My ear is technically not gone , my ear drum is fully functional but I have an apparent film covering it so when I feel pain from a loud noise I can’t help but to get excited !! Bc it obviously means it’s there. So close yet so far. I also don’t know sign language and my family never really cared to learn or teach me but I also try to take care of my left ear as much as possible. People make fun of me for saying I’m half deaf and I tell them it’s true and they feel bad after. It makes ME feel bad bc I don’t see it as a pitty. I’m blessed with one ear! Maybe one day I’ll find the help I need but for now I’ll be a dreamer. There’s other side effects hearing loss that I have but this isn’t the point. Anyway does anyone have any hearing protecting tips? I’d love to preserve my ear for as long as possible
