Carbon plate in saucony shoes

Daily Trainer Question

Does the carbon plate in saucony running shoes make the sole stiffer?

I'm asking because I broke my big toe and my current Nike Pegasus seem to bend right where my toe is sore and aggravate it, much more than my work boots. I'm looking to buy a pair of shoes that I can wear around the house everyday, with a stiffer sole that will be more forgiving on my broken big toe. I'm assuming the difference between my work boots and Nike Pegasus is the sole stiffness.

Is the carbon plates in sauconys a good option for this? I was actually debating between the endorphin pro 4 or Nike structure 26 that my podiatrist recommended as I told him I liked Nike.
