SGL-41 Conversion to 5.45/7.62?

I recently found an SGL-41 for $800 at my local gun store. I have been interested in getting an AK-74 or 103 style rifle for a while and was wondering if a conversion would be possible. And if so, would it be worth it? I have a friend who is knowledgable with gun smithing, but he has never worked with AK pattern rifles before.

If anybody has any experience with conversions or have any insights, I’d appreciate your help.
