GOA RERA - delayed possession , process and experience
Hi everyone,
I’m a homebuyer in a residential project in Goa where the possession has been significantly delayed beyond the committed date. The builder has provided a new tentative possession timeline, but they’ve refused to offer any compensation for the delay.
I’m considering filing a complaint with Goa RERA under Section 18 for interest compensation, but I currently reside in Bangalore
I’m reaching out to anyone who has experienced the Goa RERA complaint process to gain insights into their experiences. Here are some questions I’d like to know:
- Were the hearings conducted virtually or did you have to physically appear in Goa?
- How long did the overall process take from filing to resolution?
- Did the builder settle before the hearing, or did it proceed to full proceedings?
- Would you recommend filing a complaint, or do you believe it’s not worth the effort?
- Were there any adverse consequences (e.g., further delay in possession, issues during handover, etc.)?
My primary goal is to understand the practicality and effectiveness of Goa RERA, particularly for buyers who are not based in Goa.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback or recommendations from individuals who have gone through this process or know someone who has.
