West Coast Road Trip

Trip Planning

This would be with a group of friends, and we would start from Southeastern Minnesota. We would be camping and occasionally sleeping in hotels or sleeping in our cars. The plan would be to go north, do some things in northern Minnesota, then somehow make our way over to Idaho. From Idaho, go through northern Washington to the coast, hit Olympus NP, zigzag through Washington and Oregon to hit some other locations, then continue along the coast. We would follow the coast all the way through California, but go inland after the Bay Area for Yosemite NP and the Sequoia-Kings Canyon NP area. Back to the coast, then down to Los Angeles before heading along the USA-Mexico Border over to White Sands NP and Guadalupe Mountains NP. Head straight north to Great Sand Dunes NP, then head back west to do Arches, Bryce Canyon, and Zion NPs in that order. Head north to cross the Great Salt Flat, west to east. Keep going north to hit the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone NPs. Then head east home, and finish with the Black Hills and Badland NP. I'm looking for recommendations for overnight stays and other stops. I'm also wondering what to do along the yellow arrow portion, as I have nothing planned. Looking to spend around 3 days in every major national park and city. Thank you in advance.
