How do I ask my (24f) boyfriend (24m) to compliment me more?

Hello,

As the title says, I'm struggling on how I should bring up to my boyfriend that I'd like to be complimented more. We've been together for five years but the first 2 were long distance while I was finishing college. I've been feeling pretty insecure for a while and I've expressed that to him, but I'm not sure if it's registered to him that compliments is something that would help? Neither of us are very verbal in our affection, we're both more physically affectionate. I don't want to come off as needy or anything, and I just genuinely have no idea on how to start the conversation.
