34M Remote Graphic Designer Considering Move to LA
Good evening,
I’m a 34-year-old graphic designer living in Central California and working remotely. I’m seriously thinking about moving to LA. My situation looks fine on paper, but I feel stuck both creatively and socially. I want more energy, more ambition, and to be around people who care about design, branding, digital work, tech, film, and creative culture. I’m hoping to grow my career, meet other designers, go to events, collaborate, and maybe get more into UX or tech in the future. Since I’m single, remote, and flexible, this seems like a good time to make a move. I’m open to having roommates at first, but I’d prefer a studio if that’s possible. For anyone who’s made a similar move, did LA actually help your creative career, or is that just a myth? I’d really appreciate any advice on neighborhoods for creatives, realistic studio prices, or good apartment-hunting sites besides Zillow and Apartments.com. I’d rather take a chance somewhere with more opportunity than stay comfortable and feel stuck.
