Techniques For Disguising Sharp Action

I am trying to compile a comprehensive list of techniques for disguising sharp action so we can all try to keep our legal accounts from getting limited for longer periods of time. Please comment with anything I missed. Hope this is helpful to anyone new to the game...

  1. Round your bets. Bet $50, $100, $200 — not $86.43.
  2. Diversify sports and markets. Don't just hammer NBA player props. Try to find multiple models across different sports. Mix in NFL sides, MLB moneylines, NBA totals. Stick to high-liquidity mainlines where your action blends in.
  3. Wrap sharp plays in parlays. This is probably the single most underused technique right now. Books have way higher limits on parlays and barely scrutinize them because parlays historically print money for the house. Bundle 2-3 +EV legs into a parlay or use round robins. To the book it looks recreational. To you it's just slightly more variance.
  4. Use live/in-game betting. Odds move fast, CLV is much harder for books to track in-game, and live betting isn't flagged as a "sharp" bet type yet.
  5. Don't always bet at line open. Mix up your timing. If you're always the first bet when a line drops, you're profiling yourself. Avoid 8am when the lines typically drop in the US. Yes you will lose some CLV, but CLV is the single biggest indicator the books use to limit players. Weigh the price of losing a slight amount of CLV to the longevity of the account.
  6. Place a hometown team bet. This is one I've personally used with success. Occasionally bet your local team straight up — win or lose it doesn't matter. Every square in your state is betting their hometown team. It's one of the most natural looking bets you can place and it adds noise to your profile. I'll throw $20-50 on my local team here and there and it blends right in.
  7. The "all-in" move. From Capt Jack Andrews — occasionally bet your entire account balance when it happens to be close to your intended size. Looks like a degen going all-in. To you it's just a slightly over/under sized bet.
  8. Manage withdrawals. Don't pull money out every week. Leave a balance, let it sit. Frequent withdrawals scream "this is my job."
  9. Engage with the platform. Browse the app, check promos, maybe spin a slot once in a while. An account that only opens to place surgical bets and close the app looks automated.
  10. Use some promos but don't crush all of them. Taking a sign-up bonus is normal. Optimally converting every single boost and free bet is not.
  11. Build your base around sharp/no-limit books. Pinnacle, Circa, Bookmaker, exchanges like Novig and SX Bet. Treat soft books (DK, FD, BetMGM) as finite resources on a timer.
  12. Don't chase steam at the slow book. If Pinnacle just moved a line 2 points, don't immediately slam it at DraftKings. They know.
  13. Avoid error lines. Tempting but they're account killers. One bad line exploit can undo months of careful profile management.
  14. If you get limited on one market, don't immediately start hammering another. The book is watching. Take a breath, diversify, and slowly feel out what's still available.
  15. Never arb or sideline bet on a book you want to have longevity. The books communicate with each other to identify arbers.
