Roman, the camp counselor, and the first Mencken conversation

So, it's been theorized that Roman's joke about the camp counselor is true. If it is, it adds a disturbing resonance to his first conversation with Mencken.

Mencken: Well, here's my party trick. Tell me who your enemy is, and I'll tell you who you are.

Roman: Ok, put a pin in that one.

Roman: People are buying your whole- ...

Mencken: They better buy it, or I'll send em to the gulag.

Roman: Oh, ok now we're talking.

Mencken: No no no, no work camps. Like summer camps.

Roman: Summer camps with beatings, right?

Mencken: No no no, shh, no beatings, no beatings.

Roman: Well this is nice, just two guys having some disgusting fun.
