Parrot struck by lightning

Me and my dad just made a Minecraft world together, and I'm not really a frequent Minecraft player, but I got a parrot and was so excited and within 30 seconds it started storming and my parrot got struck by lightning and died. I didn't know this was possible and I'm so sad vro my parrot was so tuff.
