Installing Panasonic fan/light

Was installing a Panasonic fan/light in a master bathroom but the existing wire was too short for the new installation so I put wire nuts and extended it to reach the wires of the new fan/light. About 1 foot and a half extension. Failed to put a junction box up in the ceiling. Should I go back take it down and install a box or am I safe considering they’re tight connections.
