Moving from Peterborough – Where Is for Families & Autism Support?
Hi everyone,
We are a family of 4 currently living in Peterborough. I work in Cambridge and only need to travel once a week, so commute distance is quite flexible.
We are considering relocating mainly due to safety concerns and would really like to move to a more family-friendly and secure area with a good community environment.
We have a 3-year-old who is autistic, so access to good nurseries, SEN support, autism therapies, and understanding schools is very important for us. We also have a younger baby, so overall family facilities matter a lot.
Ideally, we are looking for:
• Safe and family-friendly neighbourhood
• Good SEN / autism support (nurseries, schools, local services, therapy access)
• Parks, play areas, and outdoor spaces for children
• Lively but safe community (not too isolated)
• Reasonable travel access to Cambridge (even if it’s 1–1.5 hours, as travel is only once a week)
We are open to towns or villages around Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, or nearby counties if they are good for families with young children and SEN needs.
If you currently live in an area you recommend (or areas to avoid), I would really appreciate hearing your experiences.
Thank you so much in advance.
