Half twisted rib for cuffs - twisted stitches on inside or outside?

I have been experimenting with different ways to neaten up a 1*1 rib and really like the look of a half twisted rib. The twisted side looks really neat but actually the untwisted side also looks so much more uniform than my normal 1*1 rib! If I use the half twisted rib on my cardigan cuffs, is there any reason why I have to put the twisted stitches on the outside? Could I put them on the inside instead so the cuff looked more like "normal" ribbing on the outside?
