New Feature: add multiple race times for more personalised paces

Pinned

Hey everyone! I’m Ollie, PM at Runna. Excited to announce a new feature, launching to all Runna Labs users today!

TL;DR

  • You're now able to add both short and long distance race times. This will calibrate your workouts so your speed sessions and long runs are paced more accurately, based on your abilities at that distance.

What problem are we solving?

  • Runners don’t perform the same across all distances: some people smash speed sessions but struggle on long runs. Others can cruise for miles but find intervals brutal.
  • This update lets you personalise your training paces so your workouts feel aligned to your ability at those distances.

How to access the feature

  • You’ll need to be on app version 8.25.0 or later
  • Head to Manage Plan
  • You’ll now be able to enter multiple race times (a short + long distance time)

How it works

  • If you navigate to 'Manage Plan', you'll be able to enter more than one race time to better calibrate your plan.
    • Your shorter distance time(5k / 10k) will influence your speed session paces (intervals, tempo, time trials)
    • Your longer distance time (half marathon / marathon) will influence your long run paces
  • For example, if your 5k time suggests strong speed, but your half marathon time suggests endurance is still building, we’ll keep your speed workouts punchy without setting long run paces as aggressively.
  • If you don't know multiple Race times, your Runna plan will still work perfectly with just one.

What we're looking for from you!

  • This is an experimental feature, and is only launched to Runna Labs while we gather feedback.
  • If you spot anything odd, have questions, or have thoughts on how it should work, please let us know in the comments!
  • Massive shout-out to the Performance Team at Runna for getting this out!
