Hey everyone, I’m a 2nd‑year Electrical Engineering student trying to land an internship for a May 2026 start. I know May is super competitive, so I’m also planning to apply more heavily for September 2026 roles.

Right now my stats are ~150 applications, 1 interview, and 20+ rejections. I started applying in late January, but honestly I’m not sure why the interview rate is this low. I can’t tell if it’s just the timing, the competition, or if something in my resume is holding me back.

I’ve posted both of my resume versions: one for software/SWE/full‑stack/AI‑ML role, and one for hardware/embedded/digital design roles. For reference, I'm a Canadian Citizen and don't mind relocating for internships, I'll take whatever opportunity I can get.

I’m applying to roles across Canada (and some US roles) and targeting anything in the following fields:

  • Embedded / Firmware
  • SWE
  • Full‑Stack
  • AI/ML
  • Digital Design / FPGA / RTL

If anyone can point out red flags, formatting issues, weak bullets, or anything that might explain the low interview rate, or just room for improvement, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
