Bretonnian Counts-As Army Concept – The Reclaimed Blood Keep - Thoughts?
I am looking for a sanity check and some hobby feasibility thoughts on a Bretonnian counts-as army themed around Blood Keep after its rumoured reoccupation.
Canon says while the Keep was destroyed during the Imperial siege led by the Witch Hunter van Hal, rumours persist that it has since been reoccupied, and that Walach Harkon himself may have returned to reclaim it.
I want to lean fully into that rumour and assume it's true:
The Army Concept
Rather than contradicting its fall, my idea is that Walach’s return sparks a new crimson mustering:
- Veteran Blood Knights
- Exiles and wanderers
- Aspirants hoping to earn Walach’s notice
- Rivals seeking to test each other under the same banner
Counts-As Cavalry
Using Blood Knight models as the base for Bretonnian equivalents:
- Blood Knight Errant
- Blood Knights of the Realm
- Blood Questing Knights
- Blood Grail Knights
- Blood Pegasus Knights
The visual theme is a sea of red cavalry pouring out of a restored fortress.
What I’d Love Advice On
- Does this feel accurately grounded in the canon rumours about Blood Keep’s possible return?
- Are there any lore pitfalls you see?
- From a hobby perspective, do vampiric knights work well as counts-as Bretonnians with clear visual cues?
I’m aiming for something thematic, tragic, and aggressive, a dark mirror of Bretonnia**,** without stepping outside established canon.
