AirPods not playing in Atmos

Just got a pair of AirPodspro3 and they are not playing in Atmos. It’s too bad you can’t choose which way you’d like to go, Atmos irregular stereo like I can on my Bose earbuds. Any ideas as to why they won’t play in Atmos?
