Help with clips

So I found 3 beautiful McM chairs for $10 each but all need significant work. This will be my most extensive repair to date. All three of the chairs had different webbing, but only two need to be replaced. One with very old rubber and clips that slide into grooves, one with jute stapled on.

The one with rubber seems to have the closest to the original webbing so I opted to order some webbing and clips for both. I naively assumed all clips were the same but upon delivery it seems I was wrong. It seems the new clips insert the opposite direction of the grooves in my chairs.

Am I able to use these new ones, perhaps in a different configuration? The chair with clips unfortunately doesn’t have enough to reuse fully.

I’m really hoping to not staple the pieces.
