How different is curry from different places?

I’ve only ever tried curry from a Thai restaurant and I have never disliked any food more than I did that curry. It looks delicious and seems universally appreciated, how different would it taste from a different restaurant? Is it worth it for me to try it elsewhere or will I most likely hate all of it? I’m not usually a very picky eater and enjoy all kinds of food.
