Fake blank peacedeal/tradedeal offer

So playing as India on immortal (AMB mod) Epic speed, and I'm defending my ass off against China and England who are at 2,5k and 4k score respectively, whereas i sit at 1,4k, but with a real chance at a science victory due to some shrewd beelining into triple towers, broadway and other high tier wonders. Finally China sends a peace offer, white peace, thank god, but as the trade window closes.. i notice something rather odd.. ahhh yes... 3 of my 5 major cities now belong to china and last autosave is waaay back. Civ 5 do be merciless sometimes ;_;

Anyone know what causes tradedeals to sometimes appear blank even though something is actually being offered/demanded??
