Where to by 19th Century World Coins?
I'm less than 12 months in my coin collecting journey and I've hit a bit of a road block. I've got a bunch of US coins, but what I am missing are some historic world coins.
Specifically, I am after a Sovereign Shield Back Queen Victoria, a Napoleon 20 Franc (with Napoleon on it), a Pillar 8 Reales, and an English Noble.
The issue is most coin shops and shows seem to be about 90% US coins. If there are any world/ancient coins, they are usually Roman or Medieval. I have had some luck on CNG auctions, but it's rare to see anything later than 1200 AD. I have yet to see any 19 century world coins anywhere other than ebay.
I don't mind taking a gamble on some ebay coins, but spending $1,500-6,000 on an ebay coin makes me a little nervous. What are some good buying options out there?
