Is the Pygmy Staff worth using?

I tend to follow the wiki’s Class Setups guide, and noticed the Pygmy Staff is absent. I just got it from Plantera. Is it any good until I get Deadly Sphere? Or should I stick with the x3 Spider and Optical everything else combo I’m using now?
