The Summons:

---

HOSOKAWA & YAMANA EVENT:

To the seeming surprise of both parties, the Emperor and Shogun have met and arranged for a summit of some sort to conclude the succession crisis once and for all... or that is what has been implied. Yamana supporters throughout the city glance over their shoulders on every street wondering what trick the Hosokawa puppeteers are pulling with this charade. Hosokawa loyalists, meanwhile, seem equally as suspicious, wondering how the Yamana managed to secure Imperial support like this... Perhaps one side is simply very good at pretending, or perhaps there is something afoot... Nonetheless, it is an Imperial summons, one cannot really refuse...

As the day of summons nears, whispers arise of a plot to kill the Red Monk. "When the Shogun gives the sign," it is said, "soldiers will appear from the flanks, and the arrows will fly. It will be too late." Yet also it is said "When the Yamana Sozen whistles twice, the Emperor will summon kuge conspirators and guards, and Hosokawa Katsumoto and Ashikaga Yoshimasa will be lying in a pool of their own blood before they can give shout. Then will the Red Monk have earned his name."

Advisors lean into the ears of both powers behind the throne. The day is come, a decision must be made...

-

Option 1: A man cannot defy the Emperor, we will go, in obedience. (perhaps... all according to keikaku...)

Option 2: It is... unconventional, but these are unconventional times. We must be seen to go, but not caught unawares. Bring loyal men, and perhaps a few swords.

Option 3: That is strange, I seem to have misplaced my invitation... ah, well...
