Interfaith dating question for atheists

Hi,

So I (practicing christian) recently dated someone who was an atheist. I really liked them, however there were some issues that came up, mostly from my end, which I felt really bad about, mostly about waiting to sleep together till marriage. They were understanding, and I wouldn't say this was the main cause of the breakup, but I could tell they were frustrated, understandably.

How would any of you feel about being in a relationship like that? I'm curious what your perspective is. If you really liked someone but they were a christian, would it be a dealbreaker for you to refrain from sleeping together? I'd like to know before I get into another relationship because I really don't enjoy dating christians but also don't want to impose that on someone again who has different beliefs.
