Why am I this upset over something that was never official?
I was talking to a guy for almost four months. We were not technically dating but we talked every day and spent time together whenever I was home from school. It honestly felt like it was naturally moving toward a relationship and I was getting ready to ask when we were gonna make things official.
There is also a five year age gap. I understand distance is hard (1.5 hours away), but things felt smooth and I was home at least every two weeks. Also when we first started talking he already knew I would be away at school, so it was not something I randomly sprung on him later. I am open to the idea there may have been other reasons, but the only reason he gave me was distance.
What confuses me is there were no warning signs at all. I went back to school for five days and he was still texting/facetiming normally and acting the same. When I came home I went to his house and that is when he suddenly told me he wanted to end things. While ending it he told me I am such a great girl and that he loves spending time with me because we have fun together. He also said he would still love to see me when I come home from school.
I was honestly in shock and did not process it in the moment so I just kept saying I understood. Now that I have had time to think I feel confused and keep wondering if I did something wrong or missed something because nothing felt off beforehand.
It has been almost two weeks and we have not talked at all. If he still wanted to see me and cared about me then why has he not reached out?
I keep hoping he will reach out and I hate that I care this much when it was never official.
Is it normal to feel like there was no emotional ending? And do you think he will ever reach out or should I assume this is just it?
