Frequent Night Wakings

I just need to talk

My baby is 12 months old. Since 8 months he has woken up 3-10 times a night. For a while it was around 5-10 but recently we’ve had some nights with 3-4. Didn’t want to sleep train and was told it was all normal, so we stuck with it, hoping it would resolve on its own. He will frequently sleep ok for the first half of the night, and then wake hourly or just be really restless until morning. We bedshare and nurse to sleep. I have always contact napped because that was the only way I could get him to take a decent length nap, which is what I thought I needed to do. But I’ve been learning about Possums and started implementing these changes today: wake him at 7, get outside for 15min, no more contact naps, bedtime at 8. He took at 15 min nap this morning and a 1 hr nap this afternoon. He’s been napping 2-3 hours. I know it’ll take a bit to notice a difference, but is there anything else I should be doing? It’s hard to not be discouraged. But thankfully since we bedshare and I stay in bed with him all night I don’t feel sleep-deprived. But the hourly wakeups are so soul-crushing.
