AITAH for ghosting a guy because he put me off by what he said over text?

So I, 22y/o female started talking to this guy, let's call him Carl. He's a mutual friend who found me on Instagram. I never met him in person but I have heard of him from friends and vise versa. We started texting on Instagram, and then moved the conversation to iMessage. At some point we planned a date but then I got sick with the Flu and Tonsillitis so I told him maybe we should postpone.

A few days after we postponed, he had texted me asking me what i was up to, and I replied that I was chilling with my mom while she ranted to me about my dad (they're separated and in the process of a divorce but he doesn't know that part). His response to that was, "Are you like that?", to which i replied "i love my dad, she's trippin". He followed up by asking, "Are you gonna be like that?" so I asked him what he meant by that. He said, "Are you the kind of women that caters to her man ?" and I didn't reply. He texted me a few hours later asking, "wyd" and I didn't reply to that either. The next day he texted "Hey" and i didn't texted back until 3 days after.

I texted, "I don’t think we’re on the same page, but I wish you the best." to which he responded with, "I mean I figured when you ghosted me so it’s cool got it." I replied saying, "no hard feelings tho, you're a chill person. i just genuinely didn't know how to answer that question nicely i guess." He said, "Ofc not but I’m confused on what question you talking about. If you don’t mind can we talk feel there’s a misunderstanding going on." so i replied directly to the text where he asked me if I'm the type of woman that would cater to her man saying, "This question. It gave me pause because I don’t see relationships as one person catering to the other. That’s important to me, and I realized we might want different things."

He replied a few hours later saying, "I was literally just asking just to ask it wasn’t no reference to me and you at all I’m sorry for making you feel away." and then an hour later he texted, "I want you bad I really been thinking about you everyday it’s hard finding someone you can relate to the way I do with you so can I get another chance 🥺🥺."

That's how the conversation ended altogether, I haven't replied to him at all, and I told my homegirl about the situation. She thinks I was too harsh and kind of an A hole for ghosting him, but I didn't feel like replying to him after it seemed he was begging me to give him another chance. I've had many bad experiences from men begging me to forgive them and me allowing them back into my life. I don't want to waste my time on a man who begs and gets what he wants because he begged me for it, I don't want to be a pushover and let him think it's okay to beg me for what he wants.

I don't know maybe I am the A hole in this situation but I'm just trying to protect myself, but what do yall think?
