Second annual mammogram post-cancer looks good -- big sigh of relief

Diagnosed Patient or Survivor Support

I just got the results of my second annual mammogram post-cancer (++-, lumpectomy, radiation) and I got the relative all clear. There's "scattered areas of fibroglandular density" -- so fatty and dense boobs -- but the report said that there was nothing to suggest malignancy.

I follow up with my radiologist, my surgeon, and my medical oncologist in the next couple of weeks. I do have some lumpies under the lymph-removal scar and I'm sure that my surgeon will have an opinion on that (I hope she does), but I'm so relieved I could sing.

Of all the many things I did not know about the bullshit that cancer rains down upon us when we're diagnosed, the thing that has loomed the largest has been the dread these past two Februaries.

I could do without all the bullshit associated with aromatase inhibitors, too.
