09 XT - Need Some assistance

Hi! I have an ‘09 XT. Just got it. I’m new to Subaru, so knowing common symptoms on these is also new to me.

I haven’t had much time to check on what’s going on, due to work. But I would love to be pointed in the most common areas to search or replace things on these. I’ll explain my concerns below.

Front end rattle over bumps

-Feels like it’s from both sides.

-No steering concerns; feels pretty decent

-Appears to have front and rear Perrin sway bars with the flat style sway links

*Assuming lower control arms/ball joints but if you know of more common areas, please let me know.

Exhaust tick vs lifter/rod/etc

-Sounds like it’s near drivers floorboard/wheel well

-Seems to present itself once the engine is hotter. You cannot hear it from the front of the engine bay

-No leaks

*PO replaced stock exhaust with a catback.

Brakes spongey and go 3/4 before engaging

-Bled the brakes, same issue

-Brakes are firm when pumping while car is off (I assume due to no vacuum) but as soon as it’s on it’s gone

-I don’t have any pulling to either side and they stop well

-They seem to slightly gain firmness if I rapidly pump while driving

Any help is appreciated!
