This is an awesome show to learn German to.

Kinda random, but I’ve taken up German recently and decided one thing to help me learn faster is to play shows with German subtitles. I’m still new (early A1 level), so if I switch to German dubs I won’t catch much, but even just reading along gives the show an extra special feeling.

I’ve done this with other shows like Fallout and I think it’s helpful, but the medieval setting and fantasy of AKOTSK just seems so much more elevated. Even though I’m hearing it in English, just the act of trying to decipher the Deutsch makes it feel like I’m peering into a whole other world lost to time.

Sometimes I’ll pause on a line. “Shut your insolent mouth,” is “Halt dein frechen Mund!” (and the *CH* is that throaty loogie hacking sound that we don’t have in English).

Anyways, 10/10 would recommend this strategy for anyone interested in language learning.
