Medical Translator Certificate/Languages
Hi everyone,
I am getting my CNA license in a couple months and would really want to work in different languages to support various communities. I speak Korean, French, and German to conversational levels and have assisted patients/visitors in all three languages successfully as a volunteer. Being unknowledgeable to medical terminology and other relevant terms, I really want to learn those terms before I apply to medical school (in around 4 years) or pursue further careers in the healthcare field. I also am learning Spanish and Arabic, and would like to apply those skills eventually. What is the best way to apply my language skills and do it ethically? I know there are medical Spanish classes at my university, but what are the legal limitations regarding using foreign languages in the workplace and how can I overcome them? I really want to connect my love for languages and my motivation to provide efficient care to patients even if they don't speak English. I know there are translators at all agencies, but I know from experience they much prefer speaking to someone in-person than a translator on a screen!
Thank you in advance!
