When people refer to mountains without 'Mount' (In English)

There is a very specific mountain that people insist, that if you even dare to add 'Mount'. before its name, you are committing a grave sin. WE ARE SPEAKING ENGLISH THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH USING A BASIC ENGLISH TOPONYM.
