I hate how paralegals aren’t allowed to have a bad day
I’ve been doing this a long time and one thing I’ve noticed that always upsets me is how paralegal are held to a different standard. It’s been the same at every firm I’ve been at. The attorneys, office managers, management, HR, even the freaking clients are allowed to have “bad days” where they treat everyone like shit and have attitudes. We just have to suck it up and deal. But the one time a paralegal is stressed, overworked, overwhelmed and gives an attitude it’s like their job is on the line.
Not saying people should have attitudes at work but I’m tired of the double standard. Attorney is acting like an asshole it’s all “ohhh they are just stressed” the office manager being a complete bitch .. “ohh it’s just the way she is.”
A paralegal has the balls to stand up for themselves and be assertive “oh they have an attitude, they can’t act like that” and now it’s a major problem.
It’s a double standard and I’m over it. I treat everyone fair and I am never nasty or mean but I won’t allow myself to be treated badly or grovel for a small mistake. But because I’m not “important” it’s not allowed. But don’t worry tomorrow the attorney will treat everyone like scum and we just all have to deal while the paralegals need to act like fucking stepford wives
Idk just tired of it and ranting not sure if anyone else can relate. I just wish it was the same across the board
