Will women actually hook up with or date guys for impressing them ?

So I've recently been following a lot of the debates about looksmaxing and human mating behaviour and so on. And one thing I have been hearing a few times is that you can impress women with other things apart from looks as well and that kinda confused me a bit. Because personally, as a guy if I want to do anything romantic or sexual with a person it depends on how attracted I am to that person not how much I'm impressed by them. And those two things are relatively separatw for me, not saying it plays no role at all, but it usually doesn't move the needle too much I'd say. And I guess I always assumed it would be the same for women. Is it different ? Why are so many people talking about impressing women and not simply attracting them ?
