I was snooping around Academy, when realised, that the Seeds of the Stars, made by the Graven mages, lead by explelled Witch Sellen, use stone masks only of Olivinus and Lazuli scholars.

And I understand the Olivinus ones, as Sellen follows the teachings of master Lusat, the founder of the Academy and studies of primeval sorcery (also was driven from the academy), and she wanted to mimic his process of assending to stars, as she called him "the child of stars".

But why add Lazuli masks, why not Karolos ones, they are of the same scholarship, or any other...

And then it dawned on me, that from the top of their silver crowns (silver is closely related to the Moon in alchemy and astrology), to their hereticaly light-blue robes with moonshaped sleeve bottoms, glintstone imbuded wooden swords (marriage with Radagon?), frost resistant sheilds... They are a walking portrayal of Rennala's believes and accomplishments

>In her youth, Rennala was a prominent champion who charmed the academy with her lunar magic, becoming its master. Sha also led the Glintstone Knights and establicshed the house of Caria as royalty.

*-Rennala's remembrance*

Perfect apprentices, the thing that Sellen wanted for so long, to share her knowledge and believes with, as a master and a teacher. Remember, how softly and politely she speaks to us, when we agree to study her magic, listen to her story, and help her to get back to Academy.

>My apprentice. I presume nothing. Teacher and student are not bound to tread the same path. But hear me out, my apprentice. I need your help to restore the primeval current of glintstone sorcery. Perhaps this is a journey we could take together?

She even trusts us to take her primal glintstone, and doesn't even question, what will we do with it, just asks to be careful

>A star has fallen, and my fortunes waver. Someone may come for my life. And so, I entrust it with you. My self.

>Treat it with care, my apprentice... What you hold is my very being...

We can safely say, that Sellen was related to Carians in some way, as we can progress her quest only after we kill Radahn and set the Stars/fate free.

Funny enough, she is the one, who tells us this information, despite the fact, that she knows, that we ask this for Ranni, Rennala's daughter, the Queen of the Full Moon that she hates with her very being

>The stars alter the fate of the *Carian royal family*. And the fate of your mistress, Ranni.

>If you recall, I was expelled from the Academy of Raya Lucaria. It was for attempting to restore the primeval current of glintstone sorcery. The toothless pedantry peddled by the *Carian royal family* can rot for all I care. I want glintstone sorceries that open our minds, unbound by terrestrial taboos. ***No matter what we give in return.***

She even separates herself from her linage by calling Carians strictly "Carian royal family".

The last bit shows us, how different Sellen and Rennala were in their persuasion of knowledge.

One was naturally gifted with cold magic of the Full Moon, that charmed the Academy so much it lead to her royal status, and the other gets bloody with the experiments, thinking, that there should be no boundaries (life of the others or family values) in the persue of knowledge (the only person, that speaks well of Sellen is Tops, probably due to his ignorance to her shenanigans).

One marries red-haired champion Radagon, and ends an entire war, the other gets expelled, shakled and tortured in the dark cave amongst burned corpses.

One **loves** her family above all things, and the other can sacrifice young students for the **love** of science.

>The primeval current is a forbidden tradition of glintstone sorcery. To those who cleave to its teachings, the act of collecting sorcerers to fashion them into the seeds of stars is but another path of scientific inquiry

*- Graven-Mass Talisman*

>
Oh, little Ranni, my dear daughter. Weave thy night into being...

*-Rennala's last words before dying in the boss fight*

In the end, both of their loves were in vain: Rennala was betrayed by Radagon, and left absolutely mind-broken, and Sellen got shackled right in the Graven-school ball, a fate that would never imagine upon herself.

Sellen hated Rennala through and through
